We are in what I would call an average club and the coach generates player stats by uploading the game videos in Balltime. Some wrong assignments must be cleaned up manually, but you can quickly get a good idea of how well / poorly each player performed. Does the evaluator really decide the awards without using any technology? If that's the case, I am not surprised that those with some skin in the game will keep complaining about the awards being rigged. [/quote]

I know a few people that have been evaluators for CHC individual awards and my understanding is that the basis for the awards is just their subjective assessment. The awards are given upon the conclusion of the finals in the gold bracket when the medals are being handed out and pictures are being taken. Making use of stats, particularly ones generated after the fact like those done by Hudl or Gametime wouldn't really be feasible. Also, coming up with some stats based criteria would be really hard. Hypothetically, did a player who got 95% of their serves in and 25 aces on the weekend but who's team went 2-7 and played in Flight 3 on Monday have a better serving performance than a player who got 90% of their serves in and 20 aces on the weekend but served an ace at championship point in the gold bracket?

While I'm sure there are great performances that get missed every year, I prefer to think of it like picking the Super Bowl MVP. Even though it is subjective, for the most part they get it right.[/quote]
