UVA out of state is a reach for everyone. Period. Your kid has as good a chance as anyone though. All you can do is apply.
+1. The best I can tell you is that for both instate and OOS, last year's incoming class at the 75th percentile had a 4.51, a 34, or a 1520 or higher (25 percent of the class was higher). And, as I'm sure you've seen on Chance me on College confidential and Reddit, most of these kids have 12 APs, rank in the top 6% of their class, have national awards, etc. Almost all have taken the most rigorous courses their high school offers. However, since only 12% of OOS applicants (a greater number of in-state are accepted) are accepted, I suspect the stats will be higher for OOS. I think the answer is somewhere in the SCHEV report - specifically for OOS - but can't find it quickly tonight. https://research.schev.edu//enrollment/B10_FreshmenProfile.asp
