It is bad luck to kill spiders
It's worse luck to get bitten by one.
or have your young child get bitten by one.
I killed one on my son's bed just last week (Montgomery County). He came downstairs screaming that there was a HUGE spider on his bed. Although our house backs to woods and we have seen wolf spiders both in and around our house before (captured specimen confirmed as a wolf spider by a pest control company), I wasn't prepared for the size of this monster. Since the spider was on top of his blanket, I couldn't think of a quick way to get rid of it. I kept thinking it would run (they are FAST) and get somewhere behind/under his bed or in his closet. My spur of the moment solution was duct tape. I reverse wrapped it around a box and figured I could press down on the blanket and the spider would not be able to release itself from the duct tape. It worked!
