We stayed at a one bedroom at the base of Winter Park - a couple hundred feet from the chair lifts. Price varies but is about $2500 for 4 nights including AirBnB fees (and includes free parking). We stay at a cheap airport motel the night we arrive and the night before our flight home -- that is another good way to shave a few hundred dollars off your trip.
How many people can you stuff into a 1BR?
We fit 4 people easily. Kids sleep in living room. We consider that a splurge vs all of us staying in a studio.
Same for us - when the kids were elementary/middle school we stayed in large studios or 1 BRs frequently. At high school/college age we usually needed a 2 BR. And we've definitely done the airport hotel trick too - in SLC and in Calgary on the way to Banff (where we stayed at the Chateau Lake Louise). Late season is when we've gotten the best deals. Last year we stayed in a Deer Valley owned hotel for under $500/night for a large 1 BR condo in late March. Free breakfast, on demand car service to Park City or to mountain restaurants (like at Silver Lake). We didn't need a car, and skied until 2 pm the last day and flew out that afternoon.
