Our cocker spaniel doesn't shed. Down side is that he needs to be groomed. Really sweet dog. Dumb as rocks and totally food motivated, but the most lovable animal on the planet!
I have a cocker spaniel hybrid (50% cocker spaniel), and while I love her to death and she's a fabulous dog, cocker spaniels are a really sad case of being overbred to the point of damaging their gene pool. Lots are really sensitive and snappy, plus have physical health problems. Many also shed like crazy, though not all. A good cocker spaniel is almost the perfect dog, but so many just aren't anymore.
Yeah I wouldn't get a cocker spaniel. Everyone I have known who has one has had major health problems.... Several head anxiety disorders in one you cannot even touch or it will bite you or pee on the floor..... SPANIELS in general are nice though. Have you thought of a king Charles or a Britney spaniel?
