I don't know how anyone is only spending $2-3,000 for 5 days ski lodging for 2 rooms. If we're at a place less than a week, and sometimes even then, we always stay ski-in/out and it costs about that much per night. For fun reference, Deer Valley St Regis is $4,000 per night for a standard king room.
I can't tell if you are purposely being obtuse or are just someone who is so privileged that you are 100% out of touch with reality. Just like all vacations, a ski trip can cost $5k or $ 30K+. Depends on when and where you go and the tier of lodging you choose so stay in. Sure you can pay $4k/night for the st Regis but you could also get an Airbnb nearby for a under $4k for the week.
If it's a ski trip, we're staying ski in/out or less than a 5 minute walk to a lift. With kids in school, we ski Christmas week. It's expensive. The St Regis was an outrageous example of lodging costs -- we're not that "privileged".
