I have never thought about it this way with regard to a hug that maybe lingers, but it makes a lot of sense.

I have a colleague with whom there is clear chemistry. We are both also happily married and occasionally talk positively about our spouses. We have never discussed marital issues with each other or anything that would violate our relationship with our spouses. We do hug a little tighter than most people when we see each other in person (a few times a year). There is something there that acknowledges our closeness and also puts a boundary on it [/quote]
