This. OP, your child’s stats and profile (RMIB) are very good. Also I would recommend that they may try to up the test score (SAT) and never do TO. I wouldn’t worry about ECs. Good luck! [/quote]

They promote average stats of accepted students and always post weighted figure, so they do care about that. High weighted GPA and good test scores are very helpful.

Not dismissing value of efforts in other areas, but it makes sense, given immense number of applicants,  that data would be a driving factor. The ECs and essays probably factor more in awards, honors or borderline cases.[/quote]

Not sure why you have such a bee in your bonnet. You don't even support what you are claiming. CDS does not contradict anything I've said. CDS does not show how factors are used. But, note that the 2 MOST important categories are GPA and rigor. Those together equate to weighted GPA. And, we also know that UMD touts a high GPA avg based on weighted GPA, so that is clearly important. Because they are TO, they won't listing testing as important, but submitting good scores can be a way to help your kid stand out because it is data driven w/ so many applicants.[/quote]
