There are public buses from SLC or Ogden to several mountains. You can uber from the airport to your hotel. The buses can get crowded but at least you don't have to deal with parking and you save money by not renting a car.
Can you take your luggage on the buses?
You can definitely take skis and gear, the buses don't go to the airport. I'm not sure about taking a big suitcase, I doubt it but maybe that would work at a not crowded time. there is a super cheap bus (maybe five dollars) from Bozeman to big sky that I have taken with luggage and skis. It is designed for locals and staff working at the mountain and works great. It stops at a couple motels so you can easily take a cheap Uber to a motel, take the bus to big sky the next morning and ski a full day. Only trick is staying near the base at big sky isn't cheap.
