dp.. I wouldn't finance it or rent a place for them, but I won't stop them.  That's what happened last year with DS.  There was a huge group of them.  One of the parents drove in a separate car with them down there; gave them a lecture about safety, then drove back home.

I had DS text me every night to make sure they were ok (DS was still 17).   We have been to several rental homes, and DS knows what needs to be done before checkout. They all cleaned up the place before they left, and later, the owner even thanked them for how well they cleaned up.

I guess it depends on your kid and their group of friends.

My sophomore DD's group of friends are also pretty responsible and aren't big into parties.

I was very hesitant at first, but if your kid is generally a good kid, good grades (DS was in a magnet, straight A student),  I think it would be harsh to not let them celebrate the end of their k-12 years this way.

If they have made several questionable decisions in the past, I wouldn't let them do it.[/quote]
