Does everyone have stockings with names on them? In our family only kids get stockings. And none of them have names. We have a few extra, so the kids look through them all and choose which ones they want each year.
Names, yes. Matching, no. Ours have initials, not by design but because they’ve all been made by various relatives over the years and no one seems to choose patterns that have space for full names. Everyone but the dog has the same first initial but the stockings are all quite different so it isn’t confusing. My late parents didn’t have childhood stockings so they made them for each other in the 60s, and otherwise everyone’s are very specific to the era when they were born. People who marry into the family are expected to supply their own stockings or someone makes them one because all of us siblings use our childhood ones. We would definitely judge a new SIL or BIL if they rolled in and ordered a set of matching ones from Pottery Barn rather than being their own or let us make one.
