Idk why most directors put too many unnecessary sex scenes in movies. Movie industry is obsessed with sex.
Actually, that's not true. The amount of sex depicted in movies has been declining for a while now: https://www.thewrap.com/sex-scenes-movies-disappearing/ https://medium.com/heart-affairs/the-slow-death-of-sex-on-the-big-screen-why-hollywood-is-going-pg-27ef15d7e9e8 There are plenty of other articles tracking the decline of the amount of sex depicted onscreen. This is from the Medium article: "Only 1.21 percent of the 148,012 feature-length films released since 2010 contain depictions of sex. That percentage is the lowest since the 1960s. Sex in cinema peaked in the 1990s, the heyday of the erotic thriller, with 1.79 percent of all films featuring sex scenes. That half-point decline is massive in relative terms, considering almost four times as many films have been released in the 2010s as in the 1990s." I'm not commenting on the scenes in "Napoleon" since I haven't seen it. I'm just noting that while to some it might feel as if there are too many sex scenes overall in films, it's not objectively true--there are fewer sex scenes. The reason for the decline? There seem to be several, among them: Younger viewers dislike explicit sex scenes (studies show...) and also: Some recent, heavily promoted streaming shows which tried to "bring sexy back" crashed and burned hard with both audiences and critics, and the amount of explicit sex was cited as one reason those shows tanked (the pop music drama "The Idol" and the erotic thriller "Obsession" were examples--both flopped and their heavy sexual content was key to their failures, apparently).
