If you received this grant, you got about a million emails reminding you that the funds expire on December 31. Talk to your tutor or whoever is providing services to your kid. To the extent you have a need and your schedule allows, schedule as much as you can to spend the grant down to zero. Don't try to buy an ipad unless your child has a documented disability that allows you to use it as a communication device or something similar. I'd be concerned that would come back to cause a problem.
Let’s be real: many, many legit tutors or classes aren’t accepted. I have the grant, but am paying $100 a week for Outschool tutoring in high school math, which is not acceptable for the grant. It’s horribly run.
I agree with it being so hard to access your money for your child’s needs. Why won’t they let you do Outschool? It’s on the list.
It is on the list and if you search for classes or sessions that are covered, tons pop up, including my child’s math tutor. Then when you click to purchase a session, it says s problem was encountered. I asked the tutor who said admin told they can’t get classwallet to actually approve it even though they did initially, which is why she’s on the list. Another friend was using a private math tutor who was approved and the grant covered the sessions, until they all of a sudden started denying them: same tutor, same subject, same time length, same cost, previously approved and now denied. Those who missed applying for the grant, missed nothing.
That’s disappointing about Outschool. It could have been a great resource. The only plus has been that since I had the grant I wanted to use it so I have found a speech teacher we really like so we will stick with her, even though I will be paying out of pocket soon.
