I would take several months' worth of bills and try to get a breakdown of what amounts are going to given categories (food, clothing etc.).  It always feels better to know where your money is going (even if spending isn't objectionable).[/quote]

NP here - I do this about every six months just to get an idea of where we're spending, it's very helpful.[/quote]
