My understanding is that Yale has stated that because the number of interview slots is limited, they are reserving interviews for those that they need more information on.  I think in REA at Yale no interview is either firmly accepted or a quick no, so you can look at it as a positive or a negative.  We are hoping to avoid deferral so that ED2 remains an option.  No interview request for daughter and we are assuming it wont happen at this point.[/quote]

Yes it does free the child to apply ED2 elsewhere but ED2 is binding and it would be difficult decision to apply ED2 binding at a school less desired than the REA school if deferred.  Our thought was to apply to a school outside of the top 25 ED2(to give a better chance of getting in to a good school) if denied.  Daughter just got notified today of interview so we assume she has atleast made it past the first review but is not likely to get in REA.[/quote]
