I don't understand why being an only child has anything to do with this scenario. OP, you could have left that out.
Why is everyone offended? I have an only and DO often go the extra mile to socialize my child, and because I assume it’s less stressful for the parent of multiples. I also feel it’s my duty since I didn’t give her built-in socialization. I’ve seen this talked about on here before with many agreeing, so I don’t know why everyone is piling on OP.
NP. Yes, this is just what parents do. Live far from school on 10 acres and your kid’s friends all live in the same neighborhood a block from school? Guess what, you are going to be offering to drive kids back and forth to your house a lot. Have 5 kids who do 5 different club sports? People will help you out with carpools because they understand that is a lot of driving. Stay at home parent with a spouse who WFH, nanny and one child? You will likely be asked to help out with pickup/dropoff more often than the single working parent with 3 kids who relies on grandparents for help. Parents with an only child tend to put more effort into their socialization than parents with multiple kids. It’s not an insult.
