Most of them in this area (including the one OP described) are completely harmless to humans and beneficial to the environment. Re glue traps, I have used them for mice, but monitored them closely and used olive oil to release the mouse outside right away. For snakes, though, just getting caught in the glue usually irreparably damages their skin and leads to death. If you don't like snakes, fine, but find someone to relocate them instead of killing them. Lots of folks will do this for free. [/quote]
