Seems like a trend. Congratulations Jeff Landry and the people of Louisiana https://x.com/electionwiz/status/1713391153372905697?s=61&t=296Ozm3aV9AVHNsVUX_Hrw
+1. Great news OP. Thanks for posting. And for you naysayers, this was in no way expected. The Dems were busy prepping for a run-off.
What? No. Louisiana is as lost as Missouri and this was totally expected.
You keep telling yourself that, but the facts say otherwise Everyone, including the Landry team, thought it would come down to a runoff between Landry and Shawn Wilson. That Landry took over 50% of the vote is a virtual landslide
+ People there are sick of the crime.
But apparently not sick of climate change and the disasters it bring with it. Or sick of the poverty rate, the 2nd highest in the nation. Or sick of the anti-abortion extremism that will endanger Louisiana's pregnant women even more than they are already are, with one of the highest maternal mortality rates in the country. Except that last really is about black mothers and babies, who die at quadruple and double the rates of their white counterparts respectively. So that doesn't really count in the minds of Republicans.
Louisiana has been governed by a Democrat for the past 8 years. No improvement in any of those things. So, let's try a new direction.......
Okay. That would mean flipping every statewide office and the legislature to Democrats since they have all been under Republican control for decades. I think I'd trade for that.
+1 I really don’t understand why Republicans either don’t get (or want to pretend not to understand) that 1) the “Democratic” governor was basically a Republican and 2) the state has basically been under Republican control for decades. Poor Louisiana has all the same problems all red governed states have.
