Everyone, including the Landry team, thought it would come down to a runoff between Landry and Shawn Wilson. That Landry took over 50% of the vote is a virtual landslide [/quote]

But apparently not sick of climate change and the disasters it bring with it. Or sick of the poverty rate, the 2nd highest in the nation. Or sick of the anti-abortion extremism that will endanger Louisiana's pregnant women even more than they are already are, with one of the highest maternal mortality rates in the country. Except that last really is about black mothers and babies, who die at quadruple and double the rates of their white counterparts respectively. So that doesn't really count in the minds of Republicans.[/quote]

Louisiana has been governed by a Democrat for the past 8 years.  No improvement in any of those things.

+1 I really don’t understand why Republicans either don’t get (or want to pretend not to understand) that 1) the “Democratic” governor was basically a Republican and 2) the state has basically been under Republican control for decades. Poor Louisiana has all the same problems all red governed states have. [/quote]
