Law degree? I say that as a lawyer who hates being a lawyer, but I make $180k.
The debt and opportunity cost is not worth it in your 40s
I was going to go on a different tack and say paralegal. Senior paralegal at top firm that is really good and does a lot of overtime = $180 or $200k. Govt lawyers everywhere seething but it is what it is.
This is a good idea. You would want to target “biglaw” firms. Vault.com has a list of these. With overtime, you will absolutely clear six figures, perhaps by a lot. Some positions require a paralegal certificate, some do not. Look at some job listings on the big firms’ sites and then figure out how to position yourself for these jobs. Nurse anesthetists make a ton, but the credential might take more than $40,000. Some other options: focus group moderator, certified mediator, special events coordinator, nonprofit/university fundraiser. Maybe home inspector?
