I have a freshman and so far it has been a rough start academically. He has Bs and Cs coming from straight As in middle. I think he is still adjusting so I am giving him some room to grow. He dropped one honors course and is in one AP. All that said he is doing really well with making friends. They had some sort of a glo dance last Friday in lieu of a homecoming dance. He said he had a lot of fun. Got home at midnight. Overall he has had a great experience socially. I like some teacher more than others.
Sounds like your son missed out. The GloCo after party was a hit and many other schools in the county have started going this route. Whitman included. Much better attendance after the football game then on Saturday night. Kids still dressed up, took pictures had dinner etc on Saturday night but this way kids were all at the dance at the same time instead of sporadically throughout the night as was the case at Churchill's homecoming dance.
Wait, so kids dressed up, took HoCo pictures and went to dinner but didn't go to a dance? What's the impetus behind this trend? Do kids no longer like Homecoming dances? This is all news to me.
