Huh? From my own Indian-American perspective, people in my community are getting Tesla for their drive-around-the-town car that is eco-friendly.  It is not seen as elite but a very pragmatic choice in terms of reliability, eco-friendly, cost, features, maintenance, safety etc.  Maybe it appeals to our nerdy and cost-conscious mindset? And you can bet your bottom dollar that most of these owners also have a cost-effective way to charge their cars most of the time - solar at home or free at work.

Tesla was never a cool car. It was different, and we waited until it wasn’t so new to buy one. And I’m not gonna sell my car, that I love, and possibly take a loss, because of what someone else thinks of Elon musk. Just like I’m not gonna stop the convenience of Amazon, delivering in two days to my door, because of others’ perception of Bezos or Jassy.
