I always felt that Tesla drivers were buying those cars for the elitism and status, without any clue about what they were really getting. I was right. I never see a Tesla driver who doesn't look like a complete tool or SAHM to wealthy tool.
Well, your guess about people is wrong. You should try being open minded and work on figuring out where your anger comes from. First there are only very few EVs cheaper than the Model 3, and most of the cheaper ones aren't that great. If you were after elitism and status, you would be getting the EVs from Mercedes, Audi, BMW, Porche, Polestar or Lucid. The people I know with Tesla's were skeptical, then drove one. Or their first motive was to go electric, and after comparing the options, bought the one that was a reasonable price, drove best, and took them further with better infrastructure, in spite of its looks. So yes, in that way the Model 3 is the new reasonably priced, reliable family car. You really can't argue with it once you drive it; it is that different from other cars. And once you drive it, you also don't care what it looks like (if you did care, then that elitism and status idea might have some traction, but then you wouldn't have bought one).
