People quit jobs all the time and the smart ones burn unused leave before they go because most districts don’t pay out on that anymore.[/quote] Other professional jobs often allow much more flexibility so that employees can handle life while still working FT. I’m a career changer so I know that other white collar jobs provide greater leeway to take an important 15 min phone call from a specialist or go to an 8 am doctor appointment and come in 30 min late. Since I switch to teaching, I have eaten up so many hours of leave because a sub was required if I needed any time off and subs want at least a half day. So I sit at home all day waiting for that call to discuss next week’s procedure.[/quote]
