As a recent transplant to FredCo, I'll say that the perception is WAY off. Tbh, I feel like I see just as many interracial families and friends of different races as I did in MoCo. Granted, we are zoned for UHS, so I don't know much about the area that borders PA. But this really is a wonderful community
Black family in Middletown and no lol You’re in Urbana. It is very different from central, western and northern FredCo. Anything zoned for Urbana is MoCo light.
Gimme a break. Drive down 75 or 80 and tell me that's anything like MoCo. It's more like Damascus and Poolesville are more like FredCo. But having lived in MoCo for 15 years, and then moved to FredCo a few years ago, its night and day different. - People are nicer - People are less competitive - SO MUCH LESS VIRTUAL SIGNALLING If you think the Urbana area is anythng like Takoma Park, Bethesda, Rockville, or SS, you haven't been to those areas in a long time.
Damascus, Pooleville, Clarksburg, Boyds, and Hyattstown are all still Montgomery County and very similar to parts of southern FredCo. Rockville, Bethesda, and Takoma are not comparable to any part of FredCo, not even Urbana, but you knew that. The point is Urbana, and yes surrounding feeder areas, are A LOT more liberal and diverse than the rest of Fred Co. Southern Frederick is different from other parts of the county.
Damascus actually feels more conservative, Trumpy, and rural than Urbana funnily enough.
Definitely moreso than the Villages of Urbana. But the minute you get outside the development in the Villages, it's all the same. Plus, a lot of people in that area are actually from the Damascus/Mt Airy area. Once you get involved in sports, you see that its the same Damascus type of Dad; they just moved a few minutes north/west
Same Damascus type mom too- was probably a high school cheerleader, now coaching a youth cheer team. You'll see. Not saying it's bad but the reality is a lot of folks who live in Urbana are from Damascus/Clarksburg/Mt. Airy.
Yup, and you just have to learn to accept the bad with the good. It's a tight knit community of families that are willing to help/support each other. But also lots of jerk Dads that take their kids sports careers WAY too seriously.
