To require tipped workers to make minimum wage. Let’s discuss why Dems push this despite tipped workers not wanting it. Because they’ll be able to tax more as they likely don’t report cash tips https://x.com/mococouncilmd/status/1704165516124749979?s=46&t=Rw_jX1uyupQwvEwsjuQulQ
Who are you to speak on behalf of all tipped workers? Some tipped workers probably don't want it. Other tipped workers evidently do want it. Just like in DC.
New poster. I can't fathom any server in the restaurant industry favoring this bill. I spent 10 years as a waiter and bartender and always made 2 to 5 times minimum wage. And that was in small town NY 20 yrs ago.
Even though I know DC requires the minimum wage, I still tip 20% when I go out to eat in DC, and everyone I know does the same. I think servers favor the bill for this reason. They know people aren't going to adjust their tipping behavior because servers now make the minimum wage -- the tipping culture for servers is just too ingrained. If I tip zero in DC (and other people do the same), servers will undoubtedly make less than before, but I think it's too hard to know what figure between 0% and 20% is now supposed to be the norm, so we just do 20% because it's what we've always done.
Just because you're dumb with your money doesn't mean everyone else should be. Wages = $0 in tips. End of story. Actually, the silver lining is that this may finally kill tipping culture over the long haul. + +
