OP here. This thread has taken a humorous turn. I appreciate all info although indeed was particularly interested in where the OES kids go for middle school. re: Crossfield, don't the kids who go to Carson then go on to Chantilly? I know there are nice areas of Oakton but they aren't as familiar to me as other areas, so I don't know if OES or Crossfield or others are a good bet. I've heard people say Oakton lacks community but have heard others say that's not true, depends on where you live. Happy to hear more about these two particular elementary zones.
No. I think some Crossfield goes to South Lakes--but the Franklin Farm kids (and others?) go to Oakton. Definitely not Chantilly. Only some AAP kids at Carson go to Chantilly if that is their base school. The base schools at Carson feed into Westfield, Oakton, and South Lakes. (I think that is correct.) OP --if you want to see each school's boundaries, go to "schools" at the fcps.edu site. Click on the school and a tab will pop up which has a link to the boundary map at the top. FWIW, it is not the clearest map unless you really zoom in, but it will show you what you need to know, I think. Example: https://www.fcps.edu/school-center/carson-middle-school
Thanks! I will check this out. I also know the home prices vary dramatically in the OHS pyramid and within some of these elementary zones. We're looking for something under a million and while we don't see a lot of that now with the current interest rates I'm hoping more inventory will open up down the road.
