Posted in the Yale thread.. https://www.degreechoices.com/blog/most-dangerous-college-campuses/ Some T 25 on the list: #1 U of Michigan OSU Cal #8 Stanford #13 Vanderbilt #14 Auburn #21 U of FL #22 UC SD #24 JHU #26 U of Washington If you look at the # by per capita, the order is a bit different, but most of the same colleges are on there. I hadn't realized how dangerous U Mich was. So many cases of rape there. Slightly different list does have Yale on there, as well as U Mich. I'll have to cross post. https://data.delmarvanow.com/crimes-on-campus/
Vanderbilt alum here. Its inclusion surprises me. When I was there (late 90s), sure, off campus a few blocks and between West End and downtown were sketchy. But campus itself was a bubble. You might hear of a stolen bike or a car stereo, but never any violent crimes on a person. Since then the surrounding area has gentrified even more. With the city’s growth has come more tourists and probably more public drinking and pickpockets etc. But the west end of Nashville is exceptionally safe.
I was there within the past year and we stayed near Vanderbilt. Although we didn’t go to there for a tour of the campus, I came home and told my DD to not apply. I realize it’s hard to get into anyway but I felt the area wasn’t safe. I usually am not overly cautious and am not afraid of cities but I was in edge in Nashville for the entire trip and not just in downtown. I am not sure who is causing the crime but there were so many homeless people obviously on drugs everywhere.
