The mental aspect of being debt free is underrated. [/quote] Here's what you could do (what I do, actually). Create a spreadsheet with a line for each month. In one column, put in how much principal you have left to pay off. In other column, put in how much you own in investment like treasuries. In a third column, put in the difference (part of your "net worth"). Then hide the first columns and if you have a bad day, look at the column that gives you the bottom line :-) Same psychology.
