Pp here, now I’m really invested in the entirety of their real estate portfolio. I think I get it.. but it should have come up before. Say while Susannah was alive, it was the Boston house + her co-ownership of beach house with sister. They divorced and dad moved out. He has an apt or something. While Susannah was fighting and dying, she stayed in the family home in Boston. Conrad has the form too. At this point with Jere graduating, they should have already been talking about what to do with the Boston house. I guess dad, who owns it?, took it for granted that the real estate there could sit forever. No need to sell, just let it keep appreciating. So, now he can sell Boston, keep his apt, and buy Cousins Beach house—nice trade.
I think this is right. That scene with the dad and Laurel was just so awkward. And Laurel convinces Julia in like a 3 minute conversation? Sure, it was mostly because of Skye, but this was all just too fast.
Julia's absolute determination to sell the house ASAP never made sense IMO. I was sure that the problem of money - as in, Julia didn't have any - was going to come up at some point. But it never really did. Also, love Kyra Sedgwick, but she's a much bigger name than anyone else in this series. Casting her is weird unless she becomes a major focal point of the series. The Conrad - Jeremiah - Belly triangle is really icky. That is all.
Re Julia I didn't really understand her whole story. She felt like an unwanted step sister never accepted so the beach brings back too many bad memories of being excluded? Re the triangle, it's like they never think it through all the way. Which is how young love is. But if she were to marry Jeremy he'd always be in Conrad's shadow.
