Please turn to science, OP. Your particular brain make-up is causing you to self-harm. You need to talk to a psychiatrist, who will analyze all your symptoms and suggest the right therapist, and perhaps, medication. You can have religious faith and also know that modern medicine can help you. "Demons" is just lack of scientific understanding of mental illness.
but why couldn't mental illness be a symptom of demonic influence?
Let's test it out scientifically, then. Try an exorcism. See how you feel. Then get an appointment with a psychiatrist, explain your history and symptoms, and follow whatever treatment they recommend. In the end, do you really care what it is, if you experience long-term relief from your symptoms? Does it matter if a demon was causing you to cut yourself, even though the exorcism failed, and meds and prolonged (real) therapy is helping? Will you believe that God gave mankind the ability to think so that they'd make medical discoveries to help themselves? I'm a scientist, I don't believe in demons. And I don't care what you believe in provided you get the help you need.
