Paris. My daughter loves it. Eiffel Tower, Lux Gardens, Rodin Garden and Cafe, L'Orangerie museum to see the giant water-lilies. She loved it at 7, 13, and 18, Now she goes regularly on her own in her 20s.
This is so sweet.
I am the poster of the original quote. I warn to emphasize to keep it "small" and do-able for the younger kids. Our trip with my daughter at 13 was nearly identical to the one at 7 -- she wanted to see again everything she remembered. Keep to the smaller museums. We added the Orsay, the Louvre and Versailles when she was 18 as those were basically all-day excursions. Having an apartment meant we ate out at simple cafes for lunch and had breakfast and dinner in the apartment. At 13 she would go the boulangerie by herself in the morning to get our baguette. Building confidence each trip. We went to local outdoor markets and bought fresh veggies, flowers, etc there. We learned the metro and buses on the earlier trips so by 18 she was off by herself on some excursions when we had different ideas for the day. She did a year abroad in France in college as she was double-majoring in Economics and French. No need to overwhelm younger kids with adults' expectations. Do things that make the kids want to come back.
