Or did you already know, and didn’t need to be told?[/quote] I remember talking about Erikson and his stages of development (the physcosocial stages which sets up different challenges between the self and society that you have to work through at different stages in your life). The teen years are about “identity versus confusion” and I do remember we talked about as an example of where this is the period where you are coming to grips with your identity. We had (in 1989) an example of a trans person in an article we read for an assignment. It certainly wasn’t the focus of the course and it was a throw away example. But I remembered it all these years later as something that a child living in Florida today would not be able to access. Seems so bizarre. [/quote]
