We are going on a cruise December 18 and I'm planning to submit my kids passport for renewal this weekend (appt scheduled Saturday). We should be ok for the passport, right? In reality it's a closed loop cruise that only goes to bahamas and mexico so I think we're ok without the passport but I feel better with it. We just got back from Europe yesterday so this was the soonest I could do. His passport expires in February 2024 but I'd rather get it done before the cruise so we have no stress if we plan something for Spring Break 2024.
I was in the same situation, we technically didn't need passports because of the closed loop (I called Royal Caribbean and confirmed) which was a relief. Still I was very happy to get the passports on time because it's easier and there is less chance of something going wrong, like rejecting the other documents. If I were you I would apply now for sure.
