It would be really nice not to have to think about potential shootings all the time.
Then don't think about potential shootings. The overwhelming majority of Americans will never be anywhere near a shooting
but it still happens regularly, way too often, and it's random. Why do American adults think it's fine that kids have to practice shooter drills in school? That's so sad.
It's fascinating to me that the same statistics that are held up to call us hysterical when we worry about mass shootings somehow don't apply to the arguments allowing people to buy any type of firearm they want and to carry it wherever and whenever they want - the reason we have concealed carry and now open carry is because of mass shootings like the Luby's in Texas back in the '80's. The argument for allowing concealed carry was that being able to protect yourself in the event of a shooting would reduce the number of shootings. But if you are statistically unlikely to be the victim of a mass shooting, you need the ability to carry a gun everywhere at all times why...?
that's another thing... I hate the gun culture in the US. It's a circular reasoning... we have more and more guns because of mass shootings; we have more mass shootings because we have more and more easy access to guns.
The percentage of firearms misused in so-called “mass” shootings (or indeed any unlawful shooting at all) is infinitesimal.
gun deaths in the US FAAAAAAAAAR surpass gun deaths in Japan, and most of the world, even some 3rd world countries, and that includes mass shootings. Not sure why you think it's fine for your kids to have to practice shooter drills. Or maybe you don't have kids, so you don't care.
