NP here. I’m following this post and have to ask, have you found really good walking shoes and if so any suggestions for those that hate wearing socks? I was walking 8-10K steps a day consistently, reducing calorie intake, drinking more water and getting good sleep and losing weight (lost 10 pounds) but fell off/life got in the way. Not that I need excuses to put off restarting again but I was getting pretty bad callouses/corns along the side of my foot, that over time had become painful. Any sustained exercise will require better footwear - shoes that I found comfortable aren’t great for serious walking and walking shoes with socks have been uncomfortable so I have to really psych myself up the way you do if you don’t wear heels and put them on for a special occasion reminding yourself you only have to get thru x amount of time until you can take them off.
I walk 8-10k steps a day also. I wear Hokas. 1/2 size bigger than my regular shoes. They aren't at all attractive, but they offer good support. Having suffered from plantar fascitis in the past, I just don't want to risk any injuries.
