500 yards is about 1/4 mile, or a 5 minute walk.

So why did you park an extra 500 yards away, or 1000 yards from the restaurant? Or do you have terribly poor sense of distance?

Either way, a 5 or 10 minute walk is fine and healthy, not sure what the big deal is. Dropping off your mother is a perfectly fine and acceptable tradeoff. [/quote]

Uh, I'm an insider - I live and own in Del Ray.

This is a walkable neighborhood - that a BIG part of the appeal. If you don't like it, you can move to someplace where you are able to drive everywhere and park easily. Or go to a restaurant that you can similarly drive/park right in front. Or take the Dash bus that goes along Mount Vernon Ave.

Why on earth would you choose to live in a place where you don't want to (or are unable to) walk a couple blocks? Do you also have a ginormous SUV?
