No, those debates were mainly Republicans “wreaking vengeance” on progressives… and failing. Missing middle and Parisa’s candidacy were popular among progressives. It was Republicans who teamed up with some conservative anti-Trump homeowners to put up a fight. And they lost. The most they got was a single Democratic nominee for county board whose main objections to missing middle were about process not substance.

The wrinkle in the CA race was that a handful of otherwise progressive activists hated Parisa’s guts. They somehow convinced themselves that a guy who had embraced the police union’s endorsement was a reformer. They weren’t much of a factor in the race though, and Parisa easily won reelection despite conservative voters in north Arlington turning out against her.[/quote]
