Once you start, you don't go off. I'm not sure what maintenance mode means. I guess I got a little less vigilant about eat low-carb and my weight plateaued. I'm down about 50 from my start. Ironically, I lost all of it before even beginning Ozempic (for type 2). Ozempic actually has not caused me to lose anything further, although I'm also not gaining, even after becoming less restrictive. To some degree the medicine takes care of that naturally -- where I might have eaten an entire Subway sandwich before, now I only want half of one. Etc.
No one ever knows what maintenance mode means.... medicine will not change your mind or your thoughts.
You are most decidedly wrong about that. This class of medications has been shown to affect dramatic changes in addictive thought patterns. It makes people with obesity have thought patterns like non-obese people who do not struggle with overeating. Thoughts like, “hm. I’ve eaten a sandwich so I don’t need another one” versus “OMG I’M SO HUUNGRY but I can’t eat another sandwich because I’m a fat pig and I’m gonna die young and omg whyyyyyyyy can’t I have it I’m so hungry I’m just gonna have half and maybe just a handful of berries, berries are okay but wait are they low carb? Probably not for effs sake why can’t one sandwich be enough I’m so disgusting no one is ever going to love me and I have nothing to wear to Aunt Nora’s this weekend auuugh I dread seeing her and all of them so judgy eff it this tastes sooooo good OMG I can’t believe I just ate a whole other sandwich I am so disgusting…” To infinity So, yeah. This class of drugs. One sandwich is enough. There’s no more thinking about it. You can go think about other stuff.
