[quote=Anonymous]I agree that people might choose a different school zone due to Jamestown’s lack of diversity (but, yeah, all of north north Arlington is not that dissimilar). I don’t know how it compares to the inner MCPS, but I suspect same. Please let me know if Im missing some missing a zip code with pretty Uber wealth (for DC) + great neighborhood schools? Seriously. Unfortunately, my belief—hopefully mistaken—is that neighborhoods generally trail in diversity. The originally poster was asking about Jamestown and so I assumed PS was on the table. If, for that original poster, like for me, diversity is important but not the single most important factor, then I would choose the neighborhood school for the community. I am not a URM; I completely understand that that factors into my worldview. For my child, the community is truly amazing and something that cannot be replaced in a private setting. My two cents is that the kids who leave in elementary are kids who aren’t doing as well as their parents hoped and they “need” some extra attention. That is fine, but my child doesn’t have any special needs and is excelling. I don’t need to send her/him to some different neighborhood with a bunch of random kids from all over the DC region when I what I have in my neighborhood school is a remarkable situation for my family.
