Most people who post here are lying. Everyone knows that. That’s what makes it funny to read.
If everyone lied that would make DCUM boring. What makes it fascinating, is that people reveal their true lives, financial and otherwise
This. It’s not like we can talk with friends that we have a 7 plus figure net worth, or 4 investment properties, or high value funded 529. We live modestly and you would never guess so. Only on an anonymous board.
Right. I’m not one of you, but of course there is that kind of money in this area and I’m sure some of you are bored enough to come on here.
7 figure NW at your 50s or late 40s is nothing. Actually, $5M NW isn't that hard if you stayed relatively disciplined (max 401k/IRA, invest in S&P index and not time the market).
I agree its "nothing" in the sense that its not hard to achieve by anyone with a reasonable income and discipline, in my experience many people with a higher income than we have do not have much discipline at all and have no idea where their money goes. We have good friends who make $1M year. We make $400k and have double their net worth. They literally have "no idea where the money goes" (their words) because their life isn't that much nicer than ours other than they have two kids in expensive private school, but that only accounts for $100k/year. I guess they pi$$ the rest away on Amazon/Target and takeout? No clue. Their home isn't any nicer or more remodeled than ours. They do have a modest second home but they don't vacation at all and we vacation a lot. Who knows.
