You want to plan ahead how you're going to be "in the moment"? Just go and have fun. Take your kids' phones if they need a little help being present and without them. I find that taking random unposed pictures help me appreciate what is happening, and they later remind me of forgotten things.
Actually you DO plan ahead to be in the moment. OP - look up the pool times, dining options and menus ahead of the trip. Anticipate any conflicts with your family’s routine or needs. Are you morning people? Night owls? Do you need reservations for specific dining options? Look up the excursions and activities now and have your family members rank their top items. Pre-schedule anything you can. Don’t plan more than one scheduled thing per day. Try to plan for your outfits and beauty routine to be as simple as possible so no one is waiting on you to curl your hair for dinner. Then let go. Wear the outfits you planned ahead. Let your kids eat ice cream without worrying they will “ruin dinner”. If you are anxious and always telling your kids to be careful, consider skipping some activities and staying at the pool. Don’t be a nag. Let your kids wear what they want and don’t fuss with their messy hair.
