Aldi/Lidl are not stores you can plan a shop around as what is in stock is always variable.
I shop mostly at Aldi but totally agree. If you have a specific list, you will not get it all at Aldi, and you might not even be able to get exactly what they had last week. They carry about 1,400 items, vs. about 40,000 at typical stores (according to https://www.cnn.com/interactive/2019/05/business/aldi-walmart-low-food-prices/index.html) But I can eat quite well with 1,400 items to choose from, even after accounting for the fact that maybe half is stuff I'm not interested in and some (like some of the the processed frozen food) isn't very good. There are lots of good fruit and vegetables, nuts, cheese, some meat and fish, eggs/milk/yogurt, cereal, etc. Then we fill in the rest with a few trips to the Giant and Whole Food near us.
