It's not about the stuff that's being stolen.  It's about the peace of mind of the shoppers.  The people who are shopping there and witness an act of bulk theft have talked about how shaken they are by it.  They want the CVS staff to intervene to protect the shoppers!

They aren’t taking it from you - they’re taking from a giant billion dollar corporate retailer. How are you possibly threatened by that?

Eventually these stores will close - like the Walmart's in DC, and Starbucks which were getting repeatedly robbed.
