You all sound like Boomers about legalized pot. When it is legalized it takes away the dangers of purchasing on the street or drug deals on the street. Many people need it for nausea, pain, anxiety etc... This was PILLS anyway. Nothing to do with pot. You realize most of the IB students at RM pop Adderall nightly to focus on all night studying? It is wildly popular and taken all of the time by high school and college students. From the comments, I am sure if one of your teens was caught purchasing them near College Gardens you expect them to go to jail. Give me a break. Why kids and teens and adults need to pop pills to get thru the day is the issue here. Not jail time for pot or pill popping. It's a sad state of affairs in this overpriced, overpopulated, high expectation area we live in. The school failed these kids not walking around the recess area to make sure there isn't anything dangerous. Candy, pills, knives, guns, etc... With most drug dealers using schools for drug deals, this should be done daily before the first recess.
You are unhinged and nuts. "most of the IB students at RM" is unsubstantiated, unfair claim that aims to paint a broad brush on a group of kids for no justifiable reason other than your decision to make drug use among teens like not a big deal. You are horrible.
Meh my kid graduated RMIB 3 years and fessed up to taking Adderall last year. Was doing it a few times in college too. They said most kids took them esp for testing and projects. She wouldn’t say who she got them from so my strait laced kid was taking and one of her current strait laced friends was dealing. It may seem insane to parents but it is very much the norm under the pressures they have. Wake up and look at the stats. The nerds are popping pills more than the cool kids.
Cool. Not sure why you and the PP are singling out RMIB kids though. Plenty of RMIB kids don’t take Adderall. Also, there are kids at all schools, at all SES levels and of all races taking drugs. This is not something unique to RM or to Gaithersburg HS or to Whitman. Drugs are easy to get, easy to do at school and it’s a ubiquitous issue.
