Why not? Chicago is wonder! Very rich and vibrant. The Obamas are from Chicago.
IKR... You can always tell the MAGA DCUM visitors who barely ever set foot outside of their little red county (or, for that matter, their mom's basement) when they post hyperbolic commentary about how Chicago or NYC or DC or Portland et cetera are supposedly hellscape warzones of burned down and boarded up buildings crawling with gangbangers and antifa and drag queen groomers.
I guess you think all is fine in those 3 cities. Glad you do.
I've been to all of them many times and enjoy visiting, and did not spend a second cringing in fear. Here's a little hint for you: The real America is nowhere near as bad as FOX News and all the right wing talking heads tell you it is.
Here's a little hint for you...my husband and I travel often and have visited all of those cities with the exception of Portland. Just because someone doesn't think burning businesses, looting, stealing, destroying others' property, and carjacking are "okay" does not mean he/she lives in a small "red" area and uses Fox News as a primary new source.
What we think is that you aren't actually experiencing any of these places. I spent a semester in Tel Aviv in college. Had a great time. I remember going over to a friend's apartment one night and there was a segment on Tel Aviv that made it look like a war zone. That's just not what I saw when I went out anywhere. I think you've seen TV segments about these places and are not actually experiencing any of them. It's not just Fox that profits on fear - it's every TV news station. If you're not terrified to leave the house by the time you're done watching the news, they haven't done their job. Then you go out and life seems pretty normal.
^ we didn't have a TV in my apartment, so I only saw the television at my friend's place. this was before the internet. anyway
