My second (third?) cousin started a new business right before the '08 financial crisis. Had tried to get my brother - they were former colleagues and one-time room mates - to go in with him, but brother declined as we are a major risk averse family. Sadly, the crisis hit just some months later and his business started going belly up. His partner drew up some fraudulent documents in an attempt to land a contract and my cousin transmitted at least one of them. He got hit with four federal charges and convicted. He just couldn't handle the prospect of prison - I don't even remember the length of his sentence and he killed himself the night before he was to report. Left behind two kids and his parents. His older brother had been murdered 25 years earlier. He probably would have been out of prison by now....[/quote]
