If you are referring to my post about super-progressives, I wasn't referring to councilmembers.  I was referring to the very loud, very active voters in Takoma Park and Silver Spring.   If we could somehow get upcounty to vote in the same percentages of their registered voters, we would have a very different council right now.

Having said that, as much as I hated the expansion of 5 to 7 district councilmembers, it has had a moderating effect on this council. It gave upcounty two councilmembers rather than one.   It created a majority Latino district (6), which might backfire a bit, because there is an assumption Latinos are liberal, and they are much more mixed in political perspectives.  And District 4 includes some very outspoken limousine liberals in North Bethesda who won't care so much about racial equity but will care about bike lanes messing up their commutes.

There certainly are some people in Bethesda and North Bethesda who are upset about safer roads generally and bike lanes specifically, but as far as I know, none of these people have anything to do with limousines.[/quote]
