I wouldn’t do Serbia now for political reasons, they are too pro putin now. Germany / Poland or combine Slovakia with Czech Republic or Austria. Both Germany and Poland are quite big countries, so the choice really is what specific things they’d like to do / or see. All options are great, but I’d avoid Serbia for now.
You can claim this but absolutely not true, Serbians are not pro Putin, I mean a very small minority--probably the same as the percentage of Americans who are...quite frankly there are so many expats( mostly W.Europeans-as they cant afford living as nicely in their countries) living in Serbia due to the beauty of the nature, the open mentality of the Serbians and the NON judgmental nature of the Serbians that real estate has gone up...my family is there and there are more Ukrainians than Russians who came during the war. And BTW the Ukrainians and Russians there get along because only in DCUM minds is there this huge nationalism gripping Slavs minds and souls....but in general you don't want to be in South Eastern Europe as it is as hot as DC is in the summer-though less humid. I would rather go to Croatia or Slovenia in the summer.
As someone who grew up in the Balkans I completely disagree. They are and always have been very pro Putin. What world do you live in? There are nice people in Serbia of course. But as a matter of National policy they are one of the only European countries openly pro Putin. It wouldn’t prevent me from going, but it’s silly to state that nationalism is not a big issue there. It has been for centires.
Croatian president is very much against NATO and EU involvement in Ukraine as well. He didn’t state he is pro Russian though. Also some Serbs are pro and anti Putin. Stop putting the Balkans into one pot! When it comes to nationalism they are not worse nor better than most countries in the world.
We wont win--in DCUM land Serbia is put together with flyover country, Trump and Rednecks...Im sure they think we also are anti-choice.
