Fairfax Democrats posted on their website re: the endorsement process: https://www.fairfaxdemocrats.org/2023endorsement/
This is a change from 2019 and I don’t want anyone to forget it. In 2019 they did not have the qualified voter caveat and Omeish got a ton of people who couldn’t vote in the regular election to vote for her in the FCDC sample ballot process. They did change their rules as a result but that doesn’t change the fact that largely based on their endorsement she won.
Since 2019, FCDC has kicked out lifelong Dems, and did not allow anyone to join who was critical of the school board. They are in an echo chamber and further radicalizing. The ones left to sign a petition to endorse candidates are fringe left. Their only hope is to paint opposition as a extreme right wing.
What lifelong dems have been kicked out of fcdc? Im a longtime member and question this assertion. There was the woman in the springfield district who wasnt allowed to join, the one who kept going on fox news talking about how the dem led schoolboard was awful and was leading the recall petition effort. Why would she be allowed to join?
Why should she not be allowed to join? There are several Dems that think the schoolboard was awful? Most in Fairfax are left of center. Why should the fringe left be in control when they driving the school system into the ground?
Why should a private organization allow someone to be a member who has made a name for themself bashing said organization in the media?
Why should the FCDC allow itself simply to be viewed as the alter ego for the School Board?
I dont see where anyone suggested that.
Seemed like someone was arguing that someone who publicly criticized the School Board should be denied membership in the FCDC because they had thereby “bashed [the] organization” in the media. Read that as equating the School Board with the FCDC. Feel free to correct me or clarify the intent if I’ve misunderstood the tenor of the comments.
It's not just denying membership to anyone that bashed the SB in the media, but also at SB meetings, and on social media. The message is loud and clear. if you don't like the SB, you can join FCDC. There's only one other viable option for parents to look to if they don't the following: 1. Prolonged school closures 2. Special Needs without school for year 3. The disruptive school calendar with the fewest 5 day weeks out all other school districts in the country 4. Unreported sexual assualts 5. Increase in human trafficking 6. Increase in violence 7. Increase in teachers leaving because they are not supported by administration in managing classrooms
