My DD got actual physical mail notification yesterday. 3.88 weighted, 1150 SAT (not sure if she submitted or not). Looked it up at PSU was more competitive than I was expecting. It’s good to have the first acceptance in hand. Not sure we can afford out of state tuition, but I think they may discount a little for surrounding states? Waiting on VT, JMU and CNU plus a few others. Anyone have any experience with financial aid at Penn State?
My DD has the same stats - 3.8 w and an 1150 SAT and was denied University Park but accepted at Altoona. Penn State does not superscore. I think my DD may have had a better chance for UP if she went test/optional. Was accepted at JMU and is waiting on Pitt. She does not want to go to PSU Altoona.
I am from PA and no way would I agree to Altoona. I would call admissions and try to push for Main Campus as there is no harm and they like the extra tuition. Everything is a negotiation. I would also not do JMU. I would consider Pitt esp if your child is interested in anything in the medical field.
JMU is probably what OP will go with; it’s a fine school so not sure why you despise it. They’re not getting into Pitt.
Pitt super-scores; Penn State does not so it may depend on what the super-score SAT is.
